1) What do I do if I do not have 220v at the gate?

Most operators are available in 115v however some are only available in 220v we have an optional step-up transformer that will increase the voltage from 115v to 220v thus allowing all operators to be fitter anywhere

2) How do I know that operator to use.

The type of operator will depend on the size of the gate, its weight, design, and of course your budget If you are unsure what operator you require telephone 772-545-2120 any we will advise you on the correct operator

3) What range will I get from the radio transmitter

Range will depend on the installation but normally you would expect a range of at lease 100 ft and with and optional aerial you increase it up to 300ft.

4) What are safety devices

We always recommend that photobeams are installed on both sides of the gate swing this will help prevent the gates from closing upon a vehicle or a person. Often the rear photobeams will require mounting posts we can supply these if required

5) What control options do I have

Almost any control option that you can think of can be used ranging from radio transmitters, computer controlled card readers, CCTV (camera) systems, Telephone entry systems Audio and Video etc We can help you decide what system is suitable for your application

6) On the underground operator dos it matter if the foundation bow fills with water

A: No but the system will last longer if there are some drains through the foundations we recommend that 2x 2in pipes and installed from the foundation box through the concrete foundation this will allow the water to drain

7) How large an gate can I automate

A; A lot will depend on the location, and the use that the gate is expected to get We would recommend that the limits that are set for each operator are not exceeded Please telephone for further advice

To Top

8) When do I need an additional lock

Again this will depend on the gate and operator normally we recommend to fit a lock on gates that are over 12 to 16 ft long (per-leaf)

To Top

9) Can I adjust the mounting dimensions on the rear of the Faac 400 operator?

Yes, but you must not exceed the overall dimensions of the piston. Remember that changing the dimensions will change the thrust and power of the operator so it may “stall” in high winds

10) Can I lock the gates open if I have a lot of visitors or a party?

Yes it is very simple to lock open the gates when required, you will need the “brake” the safety circuits you can do this either by a manual switch or a time clock. There are many more devices that will allow the gates to be locked open.

To Top

11) Can existing gates be fitted with automation?

Yes most gates can have automation installed, gates must be able to open easily by hand.

To Top

12) Can I use an “exit wand” for a safety device?

No the “exit wand” is only designed to work to exit or entry the gates it would not work as safety.

To Top

13) Can you help design a security system for me/

Yes with our many years in the security industry we can certainly help with the design of all types of security systems. Please telephone our design team at our Stuart office for more information

14) What Oil do I use to top up Hydraulic operators?

We recommend that only genuine Faac Oil be used as this is specially formulated for our operators.

To Top

15) What are the recommended service intervals?

The service intervals will depend on the number of uses expected e.g. a standard domestic installation will need one service a year where a sub-division may need four services a year.

To Top

16) How do I set up a swing gate pressure correctly?

We recommend that a fishing scale in used on the end of the gate to measure the force of the gate when moving it should be between 15 and 20lbs and remember to check the gate opening and closing

To Top

17) How easy is it to install a drive track on a sliding gate?

Very easy, each section of the drive rack is installed when the gate is installed this will allow for any movement in the ground. Remember the drive rack option is a lot quieter than chain and will not require adjustment

To Top

18) What type of telephone system should I install?

This comes down to budget and choice. Audio intercoms will allow commutations from the gate to special intercom handsets in the house, an alternative system uses your standard telephone system these systems normally have advance features such as call forwarding, in-built keypads etc. both systems can be fitted with internal cameras if required

To Top

19) Can cameras be installed with my automation?

Yes Cameras can be either interfaced with your intercom/telephone system or can be a separate system which is linked to the gate allowing recording or viewing when the gates are opening. System can also be link with a movement dectors if required.

To Top

20) Can I install a Barcode reader to my system?

It is very simple to install a barcode reader to the system as the system only requires a “dry” contact to allow the gates to work.

To Top

21) Is it possible to switch on my drive way lights when the gates open at night?

It is possible to link the gate control box with the driveway lights via a standard relay interfaced with a photocell to prevent the lights from switching on during the day

To Top

22) How do “tradesmen” gain entry?

There many ways to allow tradesmen and deliveries to access the gate, this will depend on the level of security on each individual site. The most popular way is to have a trade button interfaced with a time clock to restrict the hours of access. It is possible to make the front safety loop a free entry loop this would normally be linked with a seven day time clock to restrict the hours on operation

To Top

23) Do you have installation instruction in Spanish

Yes most of our operators have instructions in Spanish, French, German You will need to request a language other than English

To Top

24) Can I use a “exit wand” for free exit?

Yes, it is simple to install adjacent to the drive way surface
